the thaw and a flood

It's about 63ºF here today and our basement flooded! Actually our sump pump quite working so it flooded. Everything was basically on shelves and in plastic bins, but yikes what a lot of water. I did have to pitch quite a few scrapbook magazines, but that was a bit liberating actually. I mean...how many sb magazines does one girl really need? i was bummed that my bazill idea book and rebecca sower book got wet. I'm drying them as we speak. (keep turning the pages).

We really need to get a propane generator around here...in case the power goes out and this happens. It was frightening how quickly the water entered the house!

hurray finished

I dislike crochet. However I love my niece and I owe my sister for the wonderful gifts she gave us on Christmas eve when we stopped by.

I made the pink scarf because we saw this pattern on a scarf in the jr dept at macy's...so I figured it would appeal to a 13 yr old. It was a PAIN! Tons of tiny granny squares, then you have to stitch them together individually! Then my dh pointed out that kids don't appreciate handmade things. Oh well..it's done..only to mail it to be completed!

My 15 yr old and I made the other scarf for my sister, *she started it, abandoned it, and I finished it. It's soft and cozy...she should like it. Now to get it mailed off today!

Happy New Year

Well...hurray that Michigan upset Florida in the Capital One Bowl. Now THAT was a good game!

Snowed in around here. 4 plow trucks have driven past my window in the last hour, then a tow truck. Hmmmm. Do I dare venture out to get milk? (and apples and junkfood and munchies?) We're getting low on the junkfood type stuff! If I go slow!!! --only 7 miles to the Walmart!

Christmas was a blur...thankfully we had good driving weather when we headed to Michigan before the big day.

I need to take some pictures of the pretty snow on the bushes, but it's darned cold outside! Grrr...gonna have to grin and bear it. (and make some awesome yummy junkfood today)
