Jersey cow

It's been a while since I've blogged. This is a favorite picture that comes up as the computer scrolls through all the pictures. It's from this past summer on a day when the windchill here is like -15ºF.

The story here is that on this dairy farm if primarily holstein cows (the black and white ones), the Grandfather of the family gave "the girls" of the family a Jersey cow...this cow's mother. These Jersey cows are held in high esteem as the Grandfather has since passed away and her offspring are in a few diffent dairy farms in the area. The joke is that when the mother dies, they'll have to have a funeral for a cow. The mom produces 75 pounds(?) of milk daily. (still a good output). I assume this young girl gives a respectible milk output as well. She sure is a cutie.

On another note, today is the "big game" (otherwise know as the Superbowl) for the hoosiers around here. Pretty funny as the locals are pretty well divided amongst Bears and Colts fans. The Colts only came to Indianapolis in 1984....and in the general scheme of things...22 years isn't that terribly long ago. Sports fans are typically pretty diehard.

Myself...I'm going to watch the game for the pure fun of it. I love football...I will not root for either team. And I read that Prince will perform at the halftime show?! Now that should be entertaining in itself! Myself...I'm still a Detroit Lions fan...hey...what can I say...I was born and raised there!
