One from Christmas morning

I was bad and just uploaded this card today but this was a present for my 12 and 14 yr olds who love to fight! Well...sibling rivlary...you know what I mean!

This is a toy they had when I was a kid...some things are just too cool to let go, eh?

And ... re that national championship game...as Melanie...my 14 yr old said...one of her friends looked to the east and said "ha, ha, ha, ha". You have to understand we're now in Indiana!

another quote of something I've tried to explain a few times

“Within their areas of competence, experts have many more categories of awareness than novices. The perception of subtleties is what Michael Jordan, Warren Buffett, and Yo-Yo Ma have in common. Not only have experts gathered many ‘elemental’ facts about their field; they have linked them to one another to produce a vast array of ‘relational’ facts... It is these latent relationships that the mind processes in its search for insight. The processing is autonomous and subliminal, but you can encourage it. Each day use your powers of observation and reasoning to learn some new thing about your field. Reflect on its connection to what you already know. Reflection compounds knowledge.”

quote for the day

I'm feeling the need for a new quote. This one moved me a little;

Life
Accept the pain, cherish the joys, resolve the regrets; then can come the best of benedictions - "If I had my life to live over, I'd do it all the same."
-Joan McIntosh

So it's next season to look forward to

Aaargh. I have never gained an affinity for USC. Never! Michigan handed them a few too many turnovers and the rest was history. Oh well. As my old high school buddy reminds me, ..."next year".

Michigan is about way more than football though. Oh, it's fun to be a Michigan snob...diss Ohio State and all that...But having graduated from there is something you have for the rest of your life...no one can ever take it away from you. It's a part of you. Michigan Football is lots of fun to watch, but it's not the end of the world. Plenty of Michigan's players will go into the pro's for football and other sports, but they'll also go on to be engineers, doctors, lawyers, teachers, environmentalists, ...you name it.

So we didn't win the Rose Bowl. Lots of teams would have like to have at least gone there! Yeah, that's a copout. They should have won. But here's to looking forward to the 07-08 football season!

But before then, I get to root for Florida on January 8th!
